A bell icon, next to your account. One place for what changed and what to do if something isn't working.
This page describes what is coming, not what exists yet. When it ships, a bell icon will sit next to your account in the top navigation. Clicking it opens Announcements: a running record of what has changed across the platform, and a place to search for and submit issues instead of guessing whether anyone else has run into the same thing.
Right now, if something breaks or a feature changes, there is no single place to check. You either notice on your own or you ask. Announcements is being built to close that gap.
Announcements will hold two related but distinct feeds. Both exist for the same reason: so you can find an answer yourself before you need to ask someone for one.
What changed, and when. New features, fixed bugs, formulation or policy changes, anything that affects how you use the platform or what you can expect from it. Short entries, newest first, so you are never caught off guard by something that quietly changed underneath you.
A searchable record of problems members have reported and how they were resolved. Before you submit something new, you search first. If someone already hit the same snag, the answer is already there. If not, you submit it, and it becomes something the next person can search for.
The three lines above are mockup examples showing the format, not actual announcements.
A small community can only support itself well if the same question does not have to get asked, and answered, from scratch every time. A searchable issue history means the answer you need might already exist by the time you go looking for it. That is not a downgrade from personal support. It is what lets personal support stay personal, instead of getting spent on repetition.
You should never have to wonder whether something changed, or whether you are the only one having a problem. Announcements exists to make sure you are not.
This page will be replaced by the real thing once the bell icon ships. Until then, consider this the honest preview.
